After your why comes your how. How do you show up? What do you bring into every space, whether people are watching or not?
Your values are your guide. They shape your decisions, your vibe, your leadership. Not the buzzword values, but the real ones. The ones you hold when things get hard. The ones you hold when no one’s clapping.
For me, manaakitanga is one. Not the nice kind that just means making people feel welcome. I mean the hard kind. The showing up for people when it’s inconvenient. The backing of someone who’s getting overlooked. The being kind and being real at the same time.
Another one is pono. Being true to myself. Saying what needs to be said, even when it’s not popular. I try to lead in a way that’s honest and grounded. No faking it.
So here’s something to think about. What are your values? Not the ones you think you should have. The ones you actually live. What are the values you want your team, your tamariki, your tūpuna to see when they look at how you move?
If you don’t define them, the world will do it for you. You’ll get pulled in every direction. Stand in yourself. Let them lead you.
